On a break before Home Group tonight and read this great description of someone in a destructive relationship for no good reason:
Ivan, speaking to Katerina, about his brother Dmitri, said, “…you need him in order to continually contemplate your high deed of faithfulness, and to reproach him for his unfaithfulness. … Oh, there is much…humiliation in it, but all of it comes from pride.”

- regarding p.192:
- pp.184-201
- Biblical Theology: How the Church Faithfully Teaches the Gospel (9Marks Healthy Churches Series) by Nick Roark and Robert Cline
- finished, 04.19
-
#52 out of 100 (goal for this year) In “Biblical Theology”, Roark and Cline explain the distinction between “biblical theology” and “systematic theology”. Both are important and have their place. Without biblical theology, though, God’s Word is preached with the distortions of moralism, or the false teaching of the prosperity gospel (amongst other distortions and falsehoods.)
Chapters 3 & 4, alone, are worth the purchase. Those two are an overview of all of Scripture. Every subsection contains a “Preaching & Teaching Tip” with useful guidance for bringing it to near in the ministry of the Word.
Chapter 5 explains how “Biblical Theology” guards the teaching of the Church. And chapter 6 explains how “Biblical Theology” guards the mission of the church.
