Indictments and Hope: Isaiah 1:2 – God’s Rebellious Children, and My Own

If even God had children who rebelled then why am I surprised when my child rebels?

  • Instead when my children sin – not if, but when –  I’d rather have God’s help remembering His unrelenting pursuit of my own soul.
  • This reminder – by God’s grace, of his grace – will give fresh confidence that He will accomplish all His purposes. (Is. 46:10)

Therefore, if it’s true that God will accomplish all His purposes, then – with God’s help – I will pray for the salvation of my children.

  • If I know God is able (2 Cor. 9:8, Eph. 3:20) to accomplish all His purposes and that no one can thwart Him, then I pray with fresh confidence that God will totally conquer my child’s heart.

Isaiah 1:2

“Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth;

for the Lord has spoken:

“Children have I reared and brought up,

but they have rebelled against me.” (1)
