Indictments and Hope: Isaiah 1:4 – Weighed-Down with Sin

Laden … weighed-down with sin. Proverbs 5:22 the wicked are “ensnared” by their sin. Hebrews 12:1 urges us to “lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely.”

What is your response when you realize the sheer weight of your sin? When it’s been a while since you’ve:

  1. examined yourself,
  2. confessed sin,
  3. and rejoiced because of your Father’s gracious work in Jesus Christ on your behalf, for the sake of personal and intimate relationship with you, resulting in the glory due his majestic name?

What is your next step when you come to your senses, realizing you have “forsaken the Lord”?

Isaiah 1:4

Ah, sinful nation,

     a people laden with iniquity,

offspring of evildoers,

     children who deal corruptly!

They have forsaken the Lord,

they have despised the Holy One of Israel,

    they are utterly estranged. (1)
